The Family Alpha has its first Official Product Endorsement.

Somehow it seems appropriate that it’s coffee I chose to link my brand to as that is the lifeblood of the Navy man which is something I’ve carried with me to this day.

 

This coffee is legit; I have a high standard when it comes to the beans I’m going to put my name on.

I’ve had Black Rifle Coffee as well as whole host of other Veteran focused companies and while I support each (obviously) Ground Shark steals the show with both flavor as well as customer service.

You will not be disappointed either…

 

Opening My First Bag of Ground Shark

I’d been looking forwarding to this arriving at the PO Box since I crossed paths with its creator, Nick Lowary on Twitter.

Nick is  the Co-Owner of Ground Shark Coffee and a BJJ guy who is building his dream.

I knew off the bat I’d be buying from the guy, he basically dropped a message on one of my threads saying, “You need my coffee“.

His no bullshit approach and irrational confidence had me sold immediately; there’s no person who’s easier to support than the one who is working to support themselves.

 

The first time opening this resealable bag I was met with that bliss which only comes from fresh coffee beans.

Since Ground Shark only does whole bean, having this container to lock them in until gridning is essential, the company really hits the mark here and is forward thinking with what’s best for their consumers.

 

 

Let’s Spill The Beans

There are some coffees where you need a healthy dose of creamer, almond milk, or sweeteners in order to get through a cup.

 

All of that is dependent upon the bean…

While you’re welcome to add your preferred additions, I have to say that Ground Shark is best black, the oils and beans are all the aroma and flavor needed for the perfect cup-o-joe.

Back to my first impression…

Ground Shark’s were fresh, the bag was full, and the roast was on point, it didn’t have that pungent/burnt smell you sometimes get from big name brands.

 

Time To Grind

 

I grind my beans to a more coarse texture as I do not want too much getting through the French Press strainer.

Again, you can see the beans are indeed fresh as they didn’t pulverize into dust, which I have had happen to me.

This aspect is one which will be person specific, but I think we can all agree that the focus of coffee is not just the consumption, but the process.

If we were 100% working on efficiency, we’d all have Keuregs and call it a day.

Coffee is an art, waking up, brewing a pot, smelling it as we wake up – there’s a whole ambiance to this.

 

Enter – The Press

 

I use a French Press as it fits the perfect amount for the wife and I to both have a cup of coffee (yes Nick, she loved her cup as well) leaving a little left over to top one of us off.

 

Pouring From The Tea Kettle

I try to get all of the beans evenly soaked while trying to aerate as well so as to get a solid mixture throughout the water.

That’s the reason I pour a little higher, I tried to show how it was causing the ground coffee to get better mixed all the way to the bottom.

I actually use a wooden Chop-Stick to mix the beans completely once the Press is filled.

 

The Real Test is Obviously The Flavor

That first sip and the many cups since have been consistently high quality so I will definitely be buying more from Ground Shark Coffee as I don’t recommend anything I wouldn’t use or buy myself.

I look forward to seeing the new flavors and products these guys come out with (new swag as well).

 

What makes each cup taste even better is knowing that I’m supporting a man who cares about the “end user”.

In today’s age of “Electronic Farmer’s Markets” we need to ensure we’re buying from people who care about their people.

I know that Nick Lowary and Ground Shark care about every bag which leaves their site.

I support grassroot level efforts because I know it’s those companies which deserve the money I’ve made from the time I dedicated to my craft and so should you.

Enough with making the multi-million dollar companies even richer; we have an opportunity to support the common man who is working his ass off, just like the rest of us.

 

The Real Question: Does it work?

Yes, it works.

 

I knocked out quite a few projects for both The Family Alpha as well as the Fraternity of Excellence this morning while feeling wide awake without that jittery feeling.
